Wind farms produce energy for countless homes and businesses, and they also drive the economy in many ways. We highlight some of the world’s most interesting wind energy projects in the Uptime Wind Energy Podcast.
This is a partial list of some of the many wind farms and projects we’ve featured in 2024. Tune in every week to hear the latest - and if you want us to feature YOUR wind farm, contact us to tell us why.

Sprawling over roughly 56,000 acres in Isabella and Midland Counties, Michigan, you’ll find the 136 GE turbines of Isabella Wind.
Developed by Apex, Isabella Wind provides energy to more than 86,000 homes, as well as to some of the state’s largest industrial consumers, including Ford, GM, and the University of Michigan. Owner DTE says that the project can power more than 121,000 homes.
Before building began, a major grassroots effort to educate Michigan residents offered tours of wind farms in operation elsewhere. The tours were intended to provide a clear picture of what wind production would look like in their community.
Apparently, even some opponents liked what they saw: more than 600 Isabella County landowners signed leases when Isabella I & II were being developed.
When Apex, sold to DTE in 2021, the two projects were combined into one; it is now known as Isabella Wind. Follow the link below to learn how the wind project benefits the local economy today.

Cardinal Point Wind Farm, owned by Capital Power, sits on 20,000 privately-owned acres in Illinois. Among other things, those land owners and nearby residents receive a quarterly newsletter explaining what’s going on at the site, where 60 GE turbines have turned since 2020.
The 150 MW facility was developed with a somewhat unique financial arrangement benefiting the developer and energy consumers, and the towers (with blades) top out at 496’ high - placing them just under the FAA’s 500’ airspace. Listen to learn more
